Now Even Crazier!

Hey everyone,
Imagine my surprise this morning when I checked CNN.com’s front page, clicked on an article about Christians being arrested in front of the White House after protesting the Iraq War, and stumbled across a quote from our very own Burnside books editor, John Pattison.
I knew John was there, but I’ve yet to hear if he’s been arrested or not. We expect to hear more about the experience when John gets back, but we applaud him for being there. And if you live in the DC area, or in Maryland or Northern Virginia, can you send us your contact info in case we need to bail John out? If you can’t click on the link above, here’s what John had to say to some intrepid AP reporter:
“Quite literally on the night that shock and awe commenced, my friend and I toasted the military might of the United States,” Pattison said. “We were quite proud and thought we were doing the right thing.”
He said the way the war had progressed and U.S. foreign policy since then had forced him to question his beliefs.
“A lot of the rhetoric that we hear coming from Christians has been dominated by the religious right and has been strong advocacy for the war,” Pattison said. “That’s just not the way I read my Gospel.”
I’d say he represented BWC well.
I wish I could’ve been there, but, sadly, it’s very difficult for me to give up my March Madness, especially when Oregon is on the line. The Ducks eked by the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks, but the game wasn’t as close as the score.
I probably don’t mention it enough, but we’re always looking for more contributors. If you’re interested in writing for us, send your article or review in to reviews@burnsidewriterscollective.com If you don’t know what to write about, I would suggest starting out with a book or album review to get your feet wet.
Thanks for reading.

I hope I represented the BWC well. I don't remember using the word "quite" in two sentences in a row. Though its quite possible.
