BWC,

I found this top ten list of books to be somewhat disturbing!!! Nine out of the top ten books are fiction. While there are so many outstanding spiritual writers such as Henri J.M. Nouwen, Philip Yancey, Frederick Buechner and many more shedding vital information on faith issues it seems most are reading for entertainment. In light of this list of books, the fact that our churches struggle with any depth in message and Bible study curriculum really should come as no suprise. It appears the shallow is preferred over the deep, and easy read over the thought-provoking. There’s nothing Satan likes better than shallow, uninformed believers.

J.W.

Readers,

J.W. is referring to an article we posted some time ago, a list of the Top 10 Christian Books. After an exhaustive investigation, we discovered that, in fact, this list was fabricated. The issue is being dealt with. Unfortunately, our writers have a robust union, so Mr. Irvine and Mr. Albertson will likely receive a substantial severance package. Also, we’re not allowed to yell at them for their filthy lies. Stupid union.

We agree with J.W. completely.

For some an editor’s list of the Top 10 Christian Books, check out Amazon.com’s list.

And here is a revised list from us here at BWC:

1. Blue Like Jazz, Donald Miller
2. To Own a Dragon, Donald Miller
3. Searching for God Know’s What, Donald Miller (Okay, I’m hoping for a raise…)
4. Falwell: An Autobiography, Jerry Falwell
5. The Enemy Within: Saving America from the Liberal Assault on Our Churches, Schools, and Military, Michael Savage

We’re not sure what the publication dates were on these. For the rest of our favorite Christian books, check out Brent Bourgeois’ article The Christian Bookstore.

Thanks!

Hehe...silly lists. An opinion is.....an opinion. As dumb as it sounds, it's true when it comes to these sort of things. So then, let's not get all in a tizzy if someone likes something that I may not particulairly love. I mean, it's just somone's personal preferences anyway. It is their list, but; you don't have to subscribe to it one ounce! If you want, sit down and make some lists of your own. I must admit that I so do love lists...hhhhmmmmm....super-fantastic lists and top-10's or all kinds of nice things.....heckyah.
