What’s The Favorite Show of Burnside Readers?
This poll feature has been working well…each month we’re getting more feedback than the last, and readers were particularly interested to weigh in on our question last issue: what’s the best television show ever made?
Our highly scientific team of scientists has analyzed the data, come up with a perfect formula, and now know the top 10 shows ever according to Burnside readers with comments from Burnside readers.
1. Seinfeld - “A show about nothing. A show that truly encapsulated all that Generation X was truly about.” (Editor’s note: True, but wasn’t Seinfeld’s cast all baby boomers?)
2. Arrested Development - “Modern classic.”
3. M*A*S*H* - “A little before my time but I love watching the re-runs. This show combines the seriousness and terror of war with some of the best humor ever presented on TV.”
4. The Office (British) - “When Tim takes off his microphone, it’s got to be one of the most harrowing teleivision moments ever recorded.”
5. The Andy Griffith Show - “Oh, how I long for those halcyon days of my youth…”
6. Simpsons - “The Simpsons managed to tug those heart strings a few times and Family Guy can’t touch that.”
7. Lost - “I cannot remember ever looking forward to a show every week more than Lost, well perhaps maybe The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, but I am not going to put that on my list.”
8. The Sopranos - “Can you name me another show that has been this consistently brilliant in the acting, writing, and directing? You can try, but I will shoot them down immediately.”
9. The Office (US) - “Screw you elitists who think you are cool because you think the British version was raped by its American counterpart.”
10. Wonder Years - “Great writing, makes everyone wish they had a voice over.”
Honorable Mention: I Love Lucy, Battlestar Galactica, The Cosby Show and My So Called Life.
Even More Honorable Mention (even though only one other person voted for each of these shows, they make my list): Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Deadwood.
Okay, we’re taking a different direction with this next poll. Since it’s election time, and we’re feeling terribly patriotic, we want to hear what your 5 favorite States of the Union are. You can even give us 10 if you want…we don’t mind. Send your list in to reviews@burnsidewriterscollective.com. We’re assuming home states will be first, but what about after that? Next issue, we’ll list all 50 in order. If you’re unsure about which states to pick, perhaps this fun little game will help.
Thanks to everyone for voting!

You seriously mean to tell me that more than 1 person voted for "The Andy Griffith Show"?

You seriously mean that there are people who read BWC who like the AGS? Amazing.... If I'm going to be enjoying me some Ron Howard, give me Happy Days over the AGS anyday!
