BWC Summer Mix Tape

The Burnside Writers Collective is putting together a digital mix tape, featuring our musical MySpace friends. We’re inviting bands and artists to send us a song which conveys the spirit of summer. The warmth of the sun on your face in the morning, the excitement of the open road, lazy days by the lake, the goosebumpy intimacy of an evening bonfire - any aspect of the season will do. The editors will pick ten or twelve tracks and pass them on to the BWC community. The mix tape will be available to download on the BWC website and will stream on our MySpace page.
Here’s how to submit your music:
You can send mp3 files to bwcbooks@gmail.com. Or you can send us a MySpace message identifying which song on your profile you are submitting for consideration. These songs must be available to download. Also, we assume that you control the rights to your songs and that you are giving us permission to offer them for free to BWC readers. We will, of course, give credit where credit is due, and we will provide links to your MySpace page or website.
“In summer, the song sings itself,” wrote William Carlos Williams. That may or may not be true. Sometimes a good soundtrack is just what the summer needs. As another, more contemporary poet put it:
Think of the summers of the past
Adjust the base and let the Alpine blast
Pop in my CD and let me run a rhyme
And put your car on cruise and lay back
‘Cause this is summertime
